Machining Center roughing tools

In addition to the automatic roughing cycles, Shopcam has several quick methods for you to generate a roughing toolpath. All three of these commands allow you to digitize the passes. No need for construction geometry or groups.

Face Mill Rough:
This handy little command allows you to quickly generate some toolpaths. You specify the endmill diameter and the cursor takes that shape. Horizontal and vertical tangent lines are extended to the edge of the screen to help position the pass. A snap-to grid may be specified to make sure your passes are vertical or horizontal.

Hog Area Clear:
With 'Hog Area Clear' you specify an area by digitizing points or entering coordinates. When you are done defining the area, parallel passes are generated.

Manual Path:
It doesn't get much more simple than 'Manual Path'. Tell it the tool information and start digitizing. Every coordinate you visit is connected with a toolpath. Click on the 'Position' icon and you can rapid traverse to a new spot. Click on the 'Arc' icon and generate G02s and G03s or whatever your post processors outputs for arc moves. Sometimes it's the simple features that make the whole job easier.
